Hey! I'm Pierre-Louis. I'm 19 and currently studying engineering at Centrale Lyon in Saint-Étienne, France. Being in a preparatory class means around ten hours of maths and another ten hours of physics each week. It's a lot. Maths even comes to haunt me in my dreams...
If you want to know about me in a more broader sense, keep reading! But if you want to know more about what I'm up to, see my Now page. And if you're curious about what I want to become, see my Someday page.
I'll try my best here to describe myself in an honest and transparent way. I'm what I would call an extroverted introvert (or maybe introverted extrovert, I don't know). I love meeting new people and having deep conversations, but I also need and cherish my alone time to recharge. I guess this comes from being an only child, and it's now a core part of who I am.
I move between French and English A LOT. I pick the one that carries the feeling more honestly. Sometimes the emotion arrives first and language follows, and you can't do anything about it. By the way, I love writing stuff, but most of the time I never get around to it and keep interesting thoughts for myself, which is quite a shame.
I've always been into computers: hardware, software, gaming, the whole thing (literally the definition of a nerd). That curiosity turned into a real love for design, especially web design and tech in general of course. I learned by rebuilding sites I liked and tinkering until things looked right. Back in high school I spent ages on Discord helping random people fix their tech problems. I probably debugged more for strangers than for my own projects, but that sense of community kept me going.
Somewhere along the way I got into modern art and architecture. Maybe it's the clean lines. Maybe I'm just trying to find beauty wherever I can.
Lately I've been deep into AI, from language models to image generation. And even a bit of robotics. A big goal of mine is a double degree between Centrale and a university in the UK or the US, then becoming an AI researcher. The ethics and safety side interests me as much as the tech itself. I'm still young, I grow and evolve fast; so seeing the tech around me evolve even faster is really motivating!
On a personal note, I'm not perfect. And I guess nobody is. We've all got quirks. I'm trying to learn, experiment, and be a decent person while I figure things out. In a time when AI is almost always better than us in every way, embracing our imperfections is more important than ever. This makes us human.
That's pretty much what I know about myself for now. Thanks for
stopping by :D
