Me, Myself, and I
Hey, I'm Pierre-Louis,though a lot of people just call me Josh for simplicity's sake! (I guess my real name is too hard to pronounce...) I'm 18 and currently in a preparatory class at Centrale in Saint-Étienne, France. That means about ten hours of math and ten hours of physics per week, which is pretty intense, and I'm only partly joking when I say I sometimes dream about equations. But honestly, I love the challenge.
I've always been into
; hardware, software, gaming, you name it. Over time, that curiosity blossomed into a passion for design, especially web design. I started out by recreating websites I admired and tinkering around until I understood the nuances. During high school, I also spent a lot of my free time on Discord servers, helping people fix their tech issues, which taught me so much about tech, it's insane. Honestly, I spent more time debugging strangers' problems than my own code. That sense of community was huge for me, and I'd say it was my main source of motivation.Along the way, I discovered a broader love for modern art and architecture, maybe it's the aesthetic side of things, or maybe it's just me wanting to find beauty in every corner. I'm also known for randomly switching between French and English, mostly because I believe exploring different languages offers a fresh perspective on the world (or at least gives me twice as many ways to say "I have no idea what I'm doing").
Outside of coding sessions and design sprints, I like to stay informed by reading The New York Times, and I'm oddly attached to my daily Wordle... you could say it's like my small daily ritual. More recently, I've gotten really into AI , from language models to image generation. One of my biggest dreams is to complete a double degree at Centrale with an English or American university and eventually become a researcher in AI. Btw, safety and all the ethical considerations intrigue me just as much as the technical breakthroughs.
As for the more personal side, I won't pretend to be perfect—who is, really? We all have our quirks and flaws, and I'm cool with that. If anything, it's those little imperfections that make each of us unique. All I can do is keep learning, keep experimenting, and keep striving to be a decent human being wherever life takes me.
I guess that's pretty much everything I know about me yet. Thanks for
stopping by!
